Sheffields FlyDSA Arena is a 12,000 seater award-winning indoor stadium, hosting over a million visitors at 150 plus major events per year. It offers world class hospitality and is also home to the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team.
The Challenge
Reflex has had a long standing relationship with the Arena having originally installed a PA system and CCTV incorporating over 100 cameras in 2003 and having continued to provide engineering support since. In 2008 the decision was taken to upgrade the camera coverage, control and recording capability of the site, whilst also introducing an access control system for staff and visitor management, T&A and integration of alarms, video and fire interfaces. This would also involve the redesign and implementation of changes to the control suite.
The Solution
Having increased camera coverage the entire recording and controls were replaced with Honeywell hybrid DVRs incorporating video analytics and ANPR, a site-wide Honeywell WinPac Pro access control system was also installed. It provides dynamic management of FoH and BoH pedestrian routes plus door status monitoring, alarm management and fire interfaces all operating on a single GUI led technology platform. This allows high quality real time video referencing of any door transaction by multiple operators within one secure control area with over 10Tb of internal storage capacity and the ability to double this in the future. The systems designed and delivered by Reflex are now a fundamental part of the building and security management for the world class venue.
