The Challenge
Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport is the only hotel directly connected to the international airport concourse and has been ranked by Forbes as one of the world’s best airport hotels. Having provided security system support for over 10 years, Reflex were invited by the group to present recommendations for the replacement of the site wide analogue camera system with a latest generation IP network solution and high performance cameras. The upgrade requirements included the design and installation of a security specific network, multiple control points, high capacity and efficient storage, very high resolution images both internally and externally, as well as the ability to search, retrieve and share live and recorded information quickly and easily.
The Solution
Reflex are a direct partner with Avigilon and we chose their Video Management Software and latest range camera hardware as the best solution for this hotel and its operational needs.
The new network installed by Reflex is a dedicated CAT6 1Gb backbone with multiple managed switches, this offers both significant bandwidth capacity and the option for future expansion. Following surveys, we chose fish eye technology, multi-sensor units, micro domes and bullet cameras.
The use of the new Avigilon 9 MP HD Multi-Sensor Camera in external car parks enabled full coverage of areas that normally require multiple cameras or PTZ domes. These cameras deliver superior image detail in HD resolution. These cameras were also employed to cover other priority internal and external areas requiring multiple HD views and angles from single point locations.
The new Avigilon H4 Fish Eye ultra wide angle cameras were installed in the lobby areas where they blend in to the surroundings discreetly and provide 360 degree virtual PTZ technology to enable users to maintain full situational awareness while tracking objects and people without blind spots.
We used a 48tb Avigilon server and ACC software, equipping the system with a powerful and easy to operate Video Management System. Multiple operator locations can navigate between events, camera specific logs and allows multiple operators to view and interact with the same layout and interface in real time.
Our system solution also provided the ability for the system to be monitored remotely over any wireless IP network using any Apple or Android device. The software and storage can be easily up scaled to accommodate additional camera numbers in the future. Overall, the system design and choice offers end to end flexibility, future proofing and quality which is underpinned by both on site and remote service support from Reflex.
