The Challenge
EDF Energy Powerlink is the company responsible for managing, operating and maintaining the electrical power network for London Underground, ensuring the continued operation of a transport network which is used by an estimated 3,000,000 people each day. The security of the generation and distribution facilities are of highest priority and therefore EDF Powerlink representatives work closely with British Transport Police and other government agencies to ensure that every aspect of security meets extremely stringent standards.
The Solution
Reflex completed a major installation for EDF Powerlink which included the use of Advanced Video Analytics Software used in conjunction with the latest high performance cameras, creating virtual fence lines, directional movement detection, object detection, object removal and a host of enhanced features associated with this newest of technologies. Covering both internal and external areas of the building, the system was further enhanced by combining electronic Access Control, Door status monitoring and the latest in PIR detection throughout. The entire system operates on an IP platform with on site and remote network video recording using a high speed fibre-optic network installed by Reflex. The project required specialist accreditation for the company and its employees, due to the critical nature of the contract and the specific working environment for engineering staff.
