Both King’s Lynn and Roosecote power stations are a key part of Centrica Energy’s power plant portfolio, generating over 1600 GWh of power per year. Located in Norfolk, the gas burning station at King’s Lynn supplies residential and industrial customers across Great Britain. The electricity generated at the Roosecote plant in Cumbria enters the National Grid via a transformer, where it powers the United Utilities (former NORWEB) network.
The Challenge
Both power stations are located in isolated environments and risk assessments identified a need to fully upgrade and replace the site wide video surveillance and alarm detection systems.
The Solution
Having considered the options available from Reflex, Kings Lynn chose a full upgrade of the existing matrix, digital recording and site wide CCTV. Reflex utilised the latest generation Panasonic system products throughout , integrated with new perimeter and internal space detection devices. Roosecote opted for a Bosch system solution which included latest generation analogue and IP internal and external cameras, matrix, analogue and IP hybrid recording as well as new external active perimeter beam devices. All managed via a GUI control Reflex also installed fibre-optic network transmission across several Kms, with capacity for the new camera system, advanced alarm deployment and any future expansion. Both sites have continued to build on and add to the chosen technology platform, making full use of the investment and in-built-proofing.
