Overlooking the Clyde and linked to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre(SEC), Glasgow Crowne Plaza is a modern and lively landmark hotel catering for both leisure and business markets. The hotel has 400 bedrooms, large banqueting and meeting facilities, bars, restaurants and a leisure club.

The Challenge

The hotel’s existing voice evacuation system linked to the Gent fire system required complete replacement, as well as a security system audit and enhancements.  Both requirements had to be delivered whilst maintaining the hotel’s normal operations and without any disruption to guests.

The Solution

Reflex designed and installed a new voice evacuation system to comply with current British Standards employing Baldwin Boxall products.  The venue size means this involved networking between multiple control rack locations which serviced different areas of the hotel.  Reflex also incorporated a distributed digital music and PA system to all banqueting, bars and public areas with the ability to control and select different music styles on demand.

As part of the new video surveillance strategy, a total of 38 new cameras were installed into front of house, car parking and non-public areas.  Reflex combined both the existing analogue CCTV and latest IP network cameras on a single technology platform for control and recording purposes, allowing multiple viewing stations of high resolution live and archived images.  Reflex introduced a combination of existing Panasonic equipment and new Bosch and Honeywell systems products, to acheive the best offering in terms of the technology solution reliability and overall value.
