Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has a turnover of over £400 million per year, employs over 7,000 staff and provides a wide range of hospital services including specialty care for complex conditions. A major programme of new-build developments was being planned, including a new specialist cardiac care centre.
The Challenge
The hospital needed a suitably qualified and accredited fire systems partner to design and install a high-tech fire system to protect the new cardiac wing which also had to interface seamlessly with the existing Gent fire systems already used within the hospital.
The Solution
Working In partnership with Haydn Young and in association with the main contractor Kier, Reflex designed the system to meet all necessary criteria. This included the operational and technical needs for the systems to integrate whilst achieving compliance to recognised standards. Spread across multiple control panels and covering over 2,000 fire technology devices in total, the system was installed and commissioned incorporating a Graphical User Interface (GUI) package to provide full visual reference and control of the networked panels and devices.
The system now operates as an integral part of the site-wide fire detection and prevention providing comprehensive and reliable coverage throughout.
