Manchester Markets

The Challenge

Many public sector organisations choose to use Reflex to deliver solutions.  These range from stand alone security applications utilising video surveillance, access control, intruder & perimeter detection and distributed audio, to integrated systems adopting the latest technologies – to add value and provide a significant contribution to site and building management.  The types of challenge facing regeneration project managers and local authority planning officers are ubiquitous across the UK and partnership is the

key to success as with any business relationship.  Two such major regeneration projects involved contracts at Manchester Markets – New Smithfield and Harpurhey. Both are major wholesale markets and operate almost 24 hrs, 7 days a week.  Manchester City Council were keen to elect for a single end to end source of supply to support the regeneration projects.  Site wide video surveillance systems were required to enhance the effectiveness of security, site operations, logistics and health and safety provision. This would involve the replacement of existing equipment and infrastructure and would ultimately need to integrate with other technologies and be capable of being operated and interrogated from an established Greater Manchester remote monitoring facility.

The Solution

Reflex installed the latest digital video recording, storage and retrieval systems from Panasonic.  Its high frame rate recording, ease of use for site based operators, remote connectivity and robust build quality offered a single manufacturer solution which Reflex was able to deliver as a Panasonic Premier Installer.  Intruder detection products were employed to manage access in specific secure areas and site-wide communications were provided by the installation of a zoned, distributed Public address system into all internal and external areas.
