Coliseum at Cheshire Oaks

The Challenge

The Coliseum at Cheshire Oaks is a 322,000 sq feet development including a 131,000 sq feet retail complex, 15 screen multiplex cinema, night clubs and entertainment facilities.   A project of this scale and nature presents major challenges to site management, health and safety, and security.  Priority issues included the management of people moving within and between the retail and leisure outlets, traffic management, and – due to the centre’s location close to major petroleum terminals – adequate evacuation solutions to comply with health and safety requirements.

The Solution

The site-wide CCTV system is able to provide evidential quality, high resolution images.  Working in conjunction with the CCTV systems, traffic management is enhanced with traffic flow measurement installed in the road network.  In response to the specific risks presented by the nearby petroleum terminals, Reflex designed and installed a fully compliant voice evacuation system.  Every one of the diverse systems feeds into both of the two management suites simultaneously, providing a comprehensive information resource which can be shared and overlapped by both control centre teams.  Throughout the project, Reflex worked in close liaison with the Ellesmere Port Constabulary, providing the clients with the reassurance of a professional link to the authorities, and the ability to meet whatever requirements were specified.
